On May 21, 2024, Microsoft announced the deprecation and eventual retirement of its Bing Maps for Enterprise service:
- Bing Maps for Enterprise has been deprecated and will be retired.
- Enterprise account customers can continue to use Bing Maps for Enterprise services until June 30, 2028.
- Free (Basic) account customers can continue to use Bing Maps for Enterprise services until June 30, 2025.
- No new customers for Bing Maps for Enterprise will be accepted beginning June 30, 2024.
- To avoid service disruptions, all implementations that rely on Bing Maps for Enterprise REST APIs and SDKs must be updated to use Azure Maps by retirement dates.
This change is part of Microsoft's initiative to unify its enterprise maps product offerings: Bing Maps for Enterprise and Azure Maps. For additional information, please refer to the following Microsoft announcements:

Impact on DevExpress Map Controls
Bing Maps delivers core services for the DevExpress Map Control across multiple platforms:
We recognize that many applications and clients will be affected by Microsoft's recent decision. Accordingly, we expect to add Azure Maps service support for the following DevExpress components later this year:
- WinForms Map Control
- WPF Map Control
- VCL Map Control
- JavaScript Map Control for Angular, React, Vue, jQuery, ASP.NET Core/MVC
- Blazor Map Control
If you or your customers are using a Free (Basic) account, these changes will allow you to update your implementation and test our Azure Maps service provider approximately six months before the retirement date. Those using Bing Maps for Enterprise will have a much longer timeframe to update/test our Azure Maps service provider.
Actions You Can Take Today
You can take the following actions today should you need to integrate mapping functionality after June 30, 2024 (when Bing Maps will stop accepting new accounts):
Desktop Platforms (WinForms, WPF and VCL)
DevExpress Map controls for WinForms and WPF can obtain image tile data, search, and geocode functionality from the non-commercial OpenStreetMaps service. Maps for WinForms and WPF also offer methods to obtain map info from alternative image tile providers using relevant APIs:
- WinForms Map — Implement a Custom Image Data Provider
- WPF Map — Implement a Custom Image Data Provider
If your application uses our VCL Map Control, you can use the OpenStreetMap Imagery REST service as a replacement.
Web Platforms (Angular, React, Vue and ASP.NET Core/MVC/Blazor)
For web-based platforms and frameworks (including jQuery), Google Maps remains a viable option. Refer to the following help topics for additional information in this regard:
